Collection of personal information and limitationsHON collects personal information only when it is voluntarily provided by the users for a particular service. The information collected primarily concerns communication details, such as names, phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses. For the HONcode certification process, the webmaster needs to provide a login/password in order to register his profile on our platform, and access all his information about certification(s) of their services, health websites or health mobile applications. Any personal information voluntarily provided to HON by users and visitors of HONcode certification platform is kept in the strictest confidence. This information is stored in the HON database and is accessible only for the duration of the contract. It is accessed only for monitoring purposes and only by HON staff members. Personal information provided voluntarily is used only for the purposes for which it was provided. HON will obtain explicit consent for the use of the user’s personal information for any other reason than the one provided for in this document.
Right to verify and have your personal data deletedYou have the right to ask to have access to and verify any personal information HON may hold about you to ensure that it is accurate, as provided by law. To protect your privacy, we take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access to, or making corrections to, your personal information. You may opt out altogether from having us collect, use, or disclose your personal information at any time, subject to reasonable notice and applicable laws.

Please note that communication details cannot be completely deleted during HONcode certification. They can only be replaced and updated.
Personal data storage and deletionThe information provided by you and processed by HON will be removed from HON databases upon your request and when any relationship with HON has been terminated. However, a copy of the personal information collected during HONcode certification will be stored and will be permanently deleted within five years after the removal of the HONcode file from the HONcode database. When a service has been certified or requested the certification HON keeps the HONcode file with the personal data voluntary provided for a period of 5 years.
Disclosure of information to third partiesHON does not share, rent, sell or trade any personal information with any third party. All personal information is kept confidential, unless explicitly agreed otherwise or if otherwise required by law. No third parties have access to the HON database.
Collection of anonymous dataHON collects anonymous data for different services and purposes. This data can be used for technical, statistical and research purposes. HON ensures that all information shared remains anonymous and is used solely for the purpose of research and scientific publication..
Anonymous data (including URL addresses and abstracts copied from certified services and similar information) is collected for all HONcode certified websites and/or for health mobile app that are included in a search engine managed by HON.
Anonymous data is always collected when someone visits a HON website so that we might analyse how users use the website and improve our services. For further information, see below under Cookies.
The HONcode sealHON has developed a dynamic and active HONcode seal which allows for the recording of the status of a website or health mobile application in real-time according to its compliance with the HONcode principles. This seal shows the last date the service was reviewed and is automatically updated after every review or audit. The seal collects only impersonal information such as a part of your Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, etc. which cannot be used to identify you personally. We do not sell, transmit, share or divulge this information to any third party and it is safely stored on the HON Web servers and used only by the HON collaborators and system manager to improve our services.
Use of technical data
HONcode certification platform uses the content management platform October and thus, session and authentication cookies are used. These are the only cookies the HONcode certification platform (provided by Cumulus from October https://octobercms.com/theme/initbiz-cumulus) uses.
No other cookies are used and HONcode certification platform uses only local storage of information.
The HONcode certification platform does not use Google Analytics.
When requesting the certification of a service, HON will issue an automatic self-report to the client including any automatically identified appropriate actions to be made. This pdf report is created via the SurveyJS PDF exporter library. This library is used under the Creative Commons (CC) Attribution-NonCommercial licence. No change has been made to the library. Liability of HONHONcode certification platform contains the information provided by the persons who request the HONcode certification. HON does its utmost to provide trustworthy and reliable information and to maintain the HONcode platform and the HONcode information current. It relies on the owners of the service to update their information and notify HON about any modifications. If you find any mistakes, please notify us as soon as possible and we will try to correct them in the shortest delay possible.
You agree that your use of the HONcode certification platform webservice is at your own risk. The webservice, including all content, software, functions, services, materials, and/or information made available or accessed through webservices, are provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. In no event shall HON be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of or in any way connected with the use of the webservice or with the delay or inability to use same, or with hypertext or graphic links to third parties, or for any information and services obtained through the webservice.
HON adheres to Swiss privacy principles and commits to respect the Swiss laws on the protection of personal data.
The Agreement, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or its subject matter, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the law of Geneva, notwithstanding any conflicts of laws or rules that could require the application of any other law.
The Parties irrevocably agree that the courts of Geneva shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of, or in connection with, the Agreement or its subject matter.
